Abir Aramin, ten years old, who was wounded by an Israeli border policeman Tuesday the 16th, was announced brain dead this morning at the Haddasa Ein Karem hospital and is being examined by a committee to determine whether or not to unplug her from life support machines.
Bassam Aramin, the girl’s father, is a member of Combatants for Peace, the Israeli-Palestinian peace organisation. Israeli and Internationals supporters have gathered at the girls School in Anata to express their solidarity and protect the traumatised students from the ongoing threat
of the Israeli border police.
Hassan, a sixteen-year old student who witnessed Abir’s injury and carried her back to the girls school stated “the students of the girls school and the boys school had both just come out of an examination. A border police jeep approached the gathering of girls. The girls were afraid and started running away. The border police jeep followed them in the direction in which they were retreating. Abir was afraid and stood against one of the shops at the side of the road, I was standing near her. The border policeman shot through a special hole in the window of the jeep that was standing very close to us. Abir fell to the ground. I picked her up and took her to the girls school. I saw that she was bleeding from the head.”
According to Avichai Sharon of Combatants for Peace and a friend of the family “The Israeli border police have been entering Anata frequently when students go and return from school for the last year and eight months. This began with the construction of the Wall near Anata,
supposedly in order to protect the construction workers from the students, but construction of the wall was completed over a month and a half ago”. According to Wael Salameh, a close friend of the family and a member of Combatants for Peace, “This week border police would invade
the village twice a day when the students were going and returning from school.”
Abir Aramin, de 10 años de edad, quien fue baleada por un policía israelí de frontera, el miércoles 16 de Junio del 2006, fue diagnosticada con Muerte Cerebral esta mañana el hospital de Haddasa Ein Karem y fue examinada por un comité médico para determinar si la desconectan o no de las máquinas que la mantienen viva.
Bassam Aramin, el padre de la niña, es un miembro de “Combatiente Por la Paz”, una organización palestino israelí. Pacifistas israelíes y colaboradores internacionales se han reunido en el colegio de niñas en Anata para expresar su solidaridad y proteger a las aterrorizadas estudiantes de las amenazas constantes de la policía israelí de frontera.
Hassan, un estudiante de 6 años quien fue testigo del disparo mortal contra Abir y a quien llevó de vuelta a la escuela estatal de niñas expresó “las y los estudiantes e estaban saliendo luego de un examen. Un Jeep de la policía israelí alcanzó a las niñas reunidas. Las niñas se asustaron y empezaron a correr. El Jeep las siguió en la dirección en que ellas se retiraban. Abir tuvo miedo y se quedó contra uno de los negocios al lado de la calle. Estaba cerca de ella. El policía israelí disparó a través de una mira especial a través de la ventana que estaba más cerca de nosotros. Abir calló al suelo. La levanté y la llevé al colegio.Vi que esta sangrando por la cabeza”
Según Avichai Sharon de “Combatientes Por La Paz” y amigo de la familia “La Policía Israelí de Frontera había estado entrando a Anata frecuentemente cuando los estudiantes iban y venían de la escuela por ocho meses el último año. Esto comenzó con la construcción del Muro del Apartheid cerca de Anata, supuestamente con la orden de proteger a los constructores (ilegales internacionalmente) de los estudiantes palestinos. Pero la construcción (ilegal) fue completada un mes y medio atrás”. Según Wael Salameh, un cercano amigo de la familia y miembro de Combatientes Por La Paz, “Esta semana la policía israelí de frontera habría invadido la aldea dos veces por día cuando los estudiantes iban y venían de la escuela palestina”
